The prevailing global pandemic gave us all a taste of how uncertain life is. It destroyed us all in many different ways. Some lost hope, some lost life, some lost their jobs, and some their family so hire black people. Young men of color were the ones to take the most disastrous hit because of the global pandemic. The Guardian analysis states that nearly forty percent of the young black men were jobless. It is shocking because this rate is about thrice as that of white people. About forty years ago, during the outbreak of the Brixton riots that spread all over the United Kingdom, a massive mob of black people lost their jobs.

The interesting fact is that even during the recovery time, the rates of unemployment remained high among black men. Experienced economists are now stating that the prevailing pandemic has taken us back in time in that aspect. In hiring black this portal is very useful

We could see the racial disparities in the country still tormenting the men and women of color even after forty long years. We can also figure out that racial disparities and unequal treatment exist in every walk of life. It also includes employment and the labor market. The rate of unemployment among young men of color in the year 2020, is similar to that of the rate of unemployment in the 1980s. While the rate of unemployment among white workers between the age of sixteen and twenty-four was nearly twelve percent (12%), the unemployment rate among the black youths was approximately forty percent (40%). The Office of National Statistics (ONS) states that the unemployment rate from the month of January to March among white people was about ten percent (10%)while during the same time, among blacks, it was nearly twenty-six percent (26%).

Just after nine months, we could witness the colossal hike in the unemployment rates of Black, which is around sixty-four percent (64%). According to a professor from Manchester University named Yaojun Li, youths of color now face the same kind of crises that black workers in the ’80s did. A recent study stated that the wage gap between white employees and blacks was dead low ten years ago at nearly two percent (2%). However, after fifty years of development in the United Kingdom, we can see that various groups of minority people have progressed in an excellent way. However, the structural and institutional racism that damages the roots of the job market in the United Kingdom remains unfocused.

The professor also stated that the best way to attain equality in society is removing the hurdles in getting employed. Providing equal opportunities to both black and white people in terms of employment can do wonders in the United Kingdom. Economic experts warn us that history might repeat. They stated that the rates of unemployment among black workers might double as they did in the 1980s if the inequality in terms of employment continues to exist.
